PINE RIDGE - Ground was broken on the Pine Ridge school campus for the long awaited new dorm; helping with the ceremonial breaking of the ground was Sis Martin, Crystal Eagle Elk, Les Ferguson, Bob Pille, Norma Tibbitts, Gerald Big Crow and Bob Ecoffey. The $10.8 million project was initiated eight years ago and the 30,800 square foot building, when completed, will have 68 rooms for boys and girls with 136 beds, set to be done sometime early 2010. PINE RIDGE - During a special session of the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council on June 24 in the council chambers of the Red Cloud building in Pine Ridge, the council voted to issue a residential lease for 18 governor's homes and in turn vested full and complete ownership of the 18 homes to the individuals and families who have been living in the homes for the last 10 years.
