~Darla Ianne Goodvoice~

OKREEK - Darla Ianne Goodvoice, 45, died July 9 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1963, at the Rosebud Indian Health Hospital. She was born to Arlene Gladys Bordeaux and Delmar Goodvoice, an Army Peacetime Veteran. Darla was a twin to Conrad Burke 'Stoney' Goodvoice, a resident at Okreek. She has one daughter, Arlene 'Lovey' Siers of Okreek, one son, Nate LaFontaine from Omak, Wash. and four grandchildren.

Darla spent her early childhood at White River. Upon losing her mother at the tender age of 5 years old, she spent her elementary years at Highmore. Darla had returned to her maternal family in her early teens.

Her adventurous spirit had great energies, such as working on road construction, firefighting, daycare provider, waitress and an ultimate journey to Alaska. She loved animals, especially her dog, 'Rocky'. In the various phases of Darla's life she made lasting friendships. She loved life! Darla lived her life 'out loud'!

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Darla Ianne leaves three sisters Patty Bordeaux Nelson, Laura Hall and Phyllis White Shield and seven brothers: Rod James Bordeaux, Victor and Ralph 'Peppy' Rivera, Jody Totton, Jim White Bordeaux and Gerald and Conrad 'Stoney' Goodvoice.

She also leaves behind a large kinship of relatives and friends. Her laughter, sense of humor, her beautiful 'dimple' smile and energetic personality will be missed dearly.

Funeral services were held on July 15, 2008 at the Sinte Gleska Multipurpose facility. She was laid to rest by her father at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery at White River. Holmes Funeral Home, Valentine, Neb. was entrusted with the arrangements.
