      WOUNDED KNEE — Kim Cameron is about to set off on a nearly 300-mile journey into the past. She and other American Indian horseback riders plan to begin the annual Big Foot Memorial Ride on Monday at Sitting Bull's grave site.

Red Cloud Indian School receives $40,000 support to grow Lakota language curriculum
      PINE RIDGE - Red Cloud Indian School has received a $50,000 leadership grant from the Grotto Foundation to support the continued development of a comprehensive Lakota language curriculum for students in its elementary, middle and high school.

President declares state disaster post-storm
      WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush has declared a disaster in South Dakota after a blizzard in early November caused millions of dollars of damage in 13 West River counties. Gov. Mike Rounds has said a preliminary assessment by the state and by FEMA showed nearly $5 million in emergency costs and damages.

Lakota Funds makes loans all across the reservation
      KYLE — The main offices of Lakota Funds have been on the second floor of the Lakota Trade Center in Kyle since 1997. Before that, the office was in the small dome on the same corner. Because of this, many people think Lakota Funds is a Kyle or Medicine Root District organization. But, in fact, Lakota Funds works with businesses all across the reservation.
