Tribal leaders should take lessons from Palin

Dear Editor:

We, "meaning my wife and myself," are elderly , and I would like to make a comment or maybe two. My wife is from Pine Ridge and is full blood Lakota.

Recently she purchased a house in Wanblee in hopes of having a place to live. The house was burnt while she was in Kadoka paying for it. We heard the people around town know who started the fire, but no one has been charged for, "the federal offense" of arson. We wonder why not?

We hear comments about Sarah Palin of Alaska, Republican nominee for vice president, and what we hear is she fights for her people and wins most of the time.

We were wondering if maybe the Oglala Sioux Tribal council members and President John Steele should maybe take a lesson from her on how to fight for and help their people?
