Seeking stories about boarding schools
~ LETTERS TO THE EDITOR ~
Dear Editor: There were 186 Native American children from various tribest buried at the Carlisle Indian Boarding School, located in Carlisle Pa. These little lost souls are still walking around aimlessly and confused as they have never made it back home again or to the other side where their loved ones are still waiting to greet them once again! They all have their own personal stories to tell of their nightmare experiences at the Carlisle Indian Boarding School, and their painful and confusing separation from their family and friends. We have heard from the African American populations, our history books are filled with their stories of slavery, and their own personal experiences. We have also heard from the Jewish population and the terrifying and horrific events that took place! This is a new time in American's history, as we now have the first ever African American president, who by the way, claims to be a humanitarian! Who would have guessed all those years ago that we would ever see an African American president! Yes this is truly a new time in our history! You may say to yourself that no one ever takes "US" natives seriously, no one ever really listens to "US"! But perhaps NOW is the time to rise up and to let your stories be told and your voices heard! Then perhaps for those that have been terribly hurt, perhaps healing can truly begin!
