Great changes coming to Lakota Country Times!

~ OUR VIEWS~

The new Lakota Country Times Mission office sports a new sign. The office is located in the REDCO building on Main Street. The new Lakota Country Times Mission office sports a new sign. The office is located in the REDCO building on Main Street. Beginning March 19, Lakota Country Times will return to it's popular midweek schedule of being published, printed, delivered and mailed every Wednesday. Rosebud deliveries will continue Thursday mornings.

Two years ago the change to a Thursday publishing schedule was made to accommodate another delivery company's schedule. By going back to the earlier deadline we can continue to give our readers the most complete midweek community news coverage with a more competitive edge.

Another exciting change for us will be our new overall look and feel. The Lakota Country Times is printed by the Rapid City Journal and beginning in April they are converting to the popular, easy to handle industry standard promoted by the National Newspaper Association. We will have a slightly narrower look but the height will remain the same. This change will be effective April 16 with Issue 29.

And more great news for our loyal Rosebud reservation and Todd County readers. We relocated our Mission office and have secured an additional postal permit there as well. We are now located on Main Street in the former Mission Medical Clinic located next door to the Horizon Health Clinic. The sign is up and our vision is to continue to be a strong voice for the Rosebud area as well as the Pine Ridge reservation.

Last week, the Rosebud Sioux Tribal Council designated the Lakota Country Times as the official newspaper for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. It passed with a vote of 10-0, 2 not voting and we now have two correspondent's in the Rosebud area including Vi Waln who can be reached at 747-2440 and Archie Beauvais who can be reached at 441-2417.

We say wopila to our readers and our advertisers for making Lakota Country Times a strong voice for the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations.

Wopila to those who believe in Indian Owned Preference.

We pledge to continue to be the major local source for balanced local reservation and county news. As the only native paper in the South Dakota Newspaper Association, we truly believe in Truth, Integrity and Lakota Spirit and look forward to many more years serving our people with the respect and dignity they deserve.
