Pine Ridge, SD

The Oglala Sioux Tribe Land Committee is accepting bids for grazing privileges on Range Unit 505 located in Shannon County, Townships 42 & 43 North, Range 46 & 45 West, comprising 26,531 acres. There exists 16,210 usable acres of grassland on this unit. The Carrying capacity will be 250 AU for five (5) months. T here are to be no execution of Prairie Dogs on this unit.

The minimum acceptable bid is set at $22,170.00 for five (5) months grazing season. (May 1 thru Sept. 30, 2009.

Sealed bids will be accepted at the OST Land Office in Pine Ridge, SD until 4:30 P.M. April 24, 2009.

The Shannon County School Board held a special meeting on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Batesland, SD for the purpose of superintendent evaluation. President Eagle Bull called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m.

9204.Approval of Agenda

Motion by C. Conroy, seconed by Dull Knife to approve the agenda, as presented. Motion carried. (Attachment A)

9205.Five-Year Plan

Discussion was held in regard to the school district's five-year plan on construction concerns and resources available for the building projects. (Attachment B) 9206.Construction Presentation

Kai Knag and Lyle Hendrickson presented material for proposed building projects at Rockyford, Batesland and Wolf Creek sites.

9207.Professional Services

Motion by O'Bryan, seconded by T. Conroy to approve the proposed contract for professional services between Professional Land Art & Associates and the school district, for construction at Rockyford School. Motion carried. (Attachment C)

9208.Submit Proposal

Motion by Dull Knife, seconded by T. Conroy to authorize administration to submit proposal seeking funding for construction. Motion carried.

9009.State Tournament

Motion by O'Bryan, seconded by T. Conroy to authorize principals to allow upper grade students to take a one-day trip to the state basketball tournament, provided adequate number of chaperones accompany. Motion carried.

9010.Conference Call

President Eagle Bull recessed the meeting to conduct a conference call at 7:26 p.m. and reconvened at 7:57 p.m.

9011.Consultant Services

Motion by T. Conroy, seconded by O'Bryan to enter into a contract with Maxine Schochenmaier, Consultant, to draft a proposal for submission, seeking funding for school construction. Fee has been determined as one percent of award, not to exceed $75,000. In the case of no monetary award the fee will be $5,000. Motion carried.

9012.Adjournment

Motion by T. Conroy, seconded by O'Bryan to adjourn the meeting at 8:12 p.m. Motion carried.
