The 2009 Indian National Finals Rodeo was held November 11 – 14, 2009 at the South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rollie Wilson, Oglala Lakota, was named All Around World Champion. Thirty years ago, Indian Rodeo Associations from the United States and Canada united to form the INFR which now consists of ten regions with members ranging from 8 years of age to 80. The Indian National Finals Rodeo mission is to provide scholarships and educational assistance funds for Indian youth and students, and to conduct activities and programs organized for educational, charitable, and athletic purposes. Contestants compete for over $1,000,000 in prize money and awards throughout the year which culminates with over 350 qualified contestants competing at the INFR in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, calf roping, ladies barrel racing and ladies breakaway. This year several talented OST locals brought home top honors.
