~Sylvia "Sandy" Broken Leg Wiggins~

PHENIX CITY, AL - Sylvia “Sandy” Broken Leg Wiggins, 69 of Phenix City, AL passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Franciscan Woods Vista Care Hospice in Columbus, GA. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. EST Friday at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. A private interment followed at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family received friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. EST prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wiggins was born August 21, 1940 in Pine Ridge, South Dakota and was the daughter of the late Daniel Broken Leg and Virgie Poor Elk. Born an American Indian from the Oglala Sioux Tribe, she loved her Indian heritage, she loved spending time with her sweetheart husband, family and grandchildren, and she was a member of White Rock Freewill Baptist in Phenix City. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers.

She is survived by her sweetheart husband of 30 years, Freddie Dwight Wiggins of Phenix City, AL; one daughter, Virginia Gina Carpenter and husband Walt of Smiths Station, AL; two sisters, Alvina Broken Leg and Clarinda Broken Leg of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Tre`, Chase and Zachary Carpenter; one niece and nephew, much extended family, church family, and many caring friends. Other survivors include daughter Barbara Jean Mousseau; grandchildren Joan Mousseau, Laura Mousseau, Andy Weston, and great-grandchildren.
