Cheyenne Eagle Butte tabbed as Number one seed for this year's girls Lakota Nation Invitational

RAPID CITY – Two time defending champs, the CEB Lady Braves were selected as the number one seed Oct. 1 during a meeting of all the coaches at the civic center in Rapid City. CEB beat Standing Rock 68-63 last year and defeated Pine Ridge in 2009 64-57.

Crow Creek with both Jojo Sazue and Evaline Arrow back are seeded number two with Pine Ridge at three and Little Wound at four.

Pine Ridge has won 11 of the 27 girls LNI's while Todd County and Red Cloud have five championships each; CEB has three titles.

The first round games for the girls will be in the ice arena on Wednesday Dec. 14 and include CEB vs. Takini at 10am, Crow Creek vs. Flandreau Indian at 11:30, White River vs. Custer at 1pm, Todd County vs. Lower Brule at 2:30pm, St. Francis takes on McLaughlin at 4pm, Pine Ridge tangles with Omaha Nation at 5:30pm, Little Wound battles Standing Rock at 7pm and Red Cloud plays Hill City at 8:30pm.

This year the LNI is honoring Native women veterans.
