Leon Wayne Long Soldier “Tokala Ohitika,” 40 of Oglala, SD, began his journey to the Spirit World on February 27, 2013 at Rapid City, SD.

His survivors include his parents: Verdell Long Soldier of Pine Ridge, SD and Louise (Blacksmith) Long Solider of Oglala, SD; wife: Vanessa Runs After of Rapid City, SD; daughters: Grace Long Soldier and Ambrosia Long Soldier of Rapid City, SD; siblings: Fedelia (Robert) Cross, Ina Mae Espinosa, Marian Poor Bear, Priscilla Long Soldier, Alton Long Solider, Nolan Warrior, and Clayton Warrior all of Oglala, SD, Allen (Jessica) Long Soldier of Pine Ridge, SD, Martin Long Soldier, Verdell Long Soldier, Jr., and Susan Long Soldier Hiegera all of Rapid City, SD, Marvin Long Soldier of Wanblee, SD.

Leon was preceded in death by his sister, Verlene Long Soldier.

A two night wake service started at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala, SD.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala, SD with Father Peter Klink, S.J. and Sister Barb officiating, and Traditional Lakota Services provided by Mr. Ivis Long Visitor, Sr. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oglala, SD.

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD.
