Pine Ridge/Little Wound Trade Home Wins

KYLE/BOX ELDER—On Wednesday in Kyle, the Mustangs went out strong up 20-13 after one and 40-32 at the half but Pine Ridge kept chipping away closing it to 56-50 after three but ran out of time as the Mustangs sealed a 75-72 win.

Robert Shangreaux scored a team high 16 points before fouling out with 2:55 to go in the fourth. Michael Brave helped out with 13 while Ash Featherman hit four threes off the bench for 12 points.

Pine Ridge sophomore Cory Brown finished with game highs of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Janis helped out with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Tuesday night, Pine Ridge turned the tables on Little Wound earning an 86-67 win over Little Wound on their home floor. Pine Ridge is now 13-5, seeded #2 in Region 7A, the Thorpes close out their regular season hosting Todd County Thursday and travel to Eagle Butte on Saturday.

Little Wound is now 14- 5, they host Lower Brule on Feb. 24 to wrap up the regular season, a win would assure the Mustangs the #1 seed in Region 7A and a first round bye.

Red Cloud runs out of gas in fourth in loss to Douglas

BOX ELDER—Monday night, Douglas opened with a 19-15 first quarter lead, Red Cloud battled back to tie the game at 31 all at the half but down by three after three, the Crusaders could manage only five fourth quarter points as Douglas picked up their 12th win of the year 59-43 over Red Cloud.

Douglas was led by Dylan Pourier with 11 and Sam Hand with 10 points for the Patriots who are now 12-6 on the season. They close out their regular season at Spearfish on Thursday and at Sturgis on Feb. 21.

Russell Leader Charge led Red Cloud with 13 points and six rebounds while sophomore Jesse Jensen helped out with 11 points and three rebounds. Red Cloud is now 10-7, they host Sturgis on Thursday, Bennett County on Monday and St. Francis on Feb. 24.
