RAPID CITY -- In an incident that partly resulted in aggressive actions against drug-related transgression on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, a non-citizen has been charged with several serious felonies for crimes allegedly committed against two Oglala Lakota men.

United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler announced that a Kison Robinson,45, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Attempted Murder, two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Discharge of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime of Violence.

Robertson appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daneta Wollmann on April 14, 2017, and pleaded not guilty to the Indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is life imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine, 5 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

The charges relate to Robertson using a firearm to attempt to murder a male on March 30, 2017, at Porcupine. Robertson additionally used this firearm to assault the male and his son. This assault resulted in serious bodily injury to the male victim.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman is prosecuting the case.

Robertson was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has been set for June 6, 2017.

Representatives from the Porcupine District say that Robinson has been identified as a suspect in a previous shooting attempt near evergreen.
