BUCHE FOODS TO HELP BUS RESIDENTS Beginning Jan. 22, the following buses will be offered to fulfill customer needs in addition to the regular transit schedule. Depart from Big Bats in Pine Ridge at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm Monday – Friday • Travel to Lynn’s Dakotamart in Martin • Customers will be able to shop for 1 hour and return to Pine Ridge • Additional regular buses will stop at Lynn’s for pickup, if necessary • For questions, contact Transit at 867-2332.

MMIW MARCH – Rapid City- The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women movement (MMIW He Sapa) here in Rapid City is preparing for its 2nd annual march on February 14th, 2019 @12:00 PM at Racing Magpie. THE MARCH WILL BEGIN @ 12:00. The schedule will go as followed: •Opening Prayer/Blessing, Acknowledgment, route directions at Racing Magpie •March downtown Rapid City (designated route) •Meet back at Racing Magpie for guest speakers, meal, and silent auction. TAKUWE ARTISTS’ RECEPTION · Hosted by Rapid City Arts Council at The Dahl – Takuwe, which translates as “why” from Lakota into English, is

the most recent educational exhibit organized and curated by Craig Howe, PHD, Center for American Indian Research and Native Studies. The focus of this exhibit is the 1890 massacre of Lakotas at Wounded Knee. Takuwe includes text of historical context leading up to the massacre, along with opportunities at Wounded Knee today. Forty-six core Lakota artists created poems, songs and visual artworks related to the 1890 massacre that took place in Wounded Knee, South Dakota. This show includes 28 visual artworks, seven songs, and seven poems. This exhibit will be displayed 02.15.19 – 05.18.19 in the Ruth Brennan Gallery.

LAKOTA SEWING CIRCLE – Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11 AM – 3 PM – Community members have created a Sewing Circle for the people in the community to have an opportunity to get together to be creative and share ideas and knowledge. ANPETU LUTA’S YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT MEDIA COMPETITION – will give away $2k in cash and prizes. Competition opens on December 15, 2018 and entries will be accepted until February 28, 2019. Community judging begins on March 15, 2019, and remains open until April 15, 2019. Entries will be reviewed and scored by the Prevention Coalition partners. Winners of the community voting and the Coalition’s official winner will be announced in late April or early May. White Buffalo Calf Woman’s Society understands what you are going through and we offer support and resources. We want you to know that you are not alone. It is not your fault that your child was sexually assaulted, some feelings you may experience are depression, anxiety, anger, fear, guilt, shame, remorse, denial, and grief. We would like to help you deal with your feelings, and talk to other parents who are going through the same experiences. We offer transportation if you need it also child care will be provided. WE ENCOURAGE ALL YOUTH WHO WANT TO LEARN how to dance or sing to come. No regalia is needed.
