RAMA, COURNOYER LEAD TEAMS TO ALL STAR VICTORIES




WHITE RIVER – Wednesday, for the 13th year straight, White River high school and Eldon Marshall hosted the Great Plains Senior All Star games; Red Cloud senior Ale Rama scored the final basket in the boy’s game to give the Darks a 130-128 win while Todd County senior Raven Cournoyer knocked down 31 points to lead her Darks team to a 91-74 win over the Whites.

Rama finished with 38 points to top all scorers but had plenty of help as five of his teammates hit double figures, Joey Fischer/Stanley County 31, Corey Blacksmith/ Pine Ridge 15, Marcus Herber/Kadoka Area 14, Jacob Young/ White River 13 and Jadice Morrison/White River 12. CEB’s Cecelio Montgomery helped with 7 points. Justice Morrison coached the Darks.

Pine Ridge senior Corey Brown led the Whites with 32 points, his Thorpe teammate Halin Bad Bear finished with 28, Tex Janis/ Little Wound 27, Aiden Bizardie/Todd County 24, DeAndre Cottier/ Bennett County 8, Trayer Schmidt/White River 4, Alec Whitney/ Jones County 3 and Brady Hofteizer/Stanley County 3. Casey Piper coached the Whites.

Rama won the three point contest while Marcus Herber/Kadoka Area topped the Slam Dunk competition.

While Cournoyer was putting in a team high 31, her help included Kateri Weston/Pine Ridge 10, Matilda Anderson/St. Francis10, Elise Brooks/ Miller 10, Haylee Quick Bear/Todd County 10, Georgi Mendoza/Timber Lake 8, Alyssa Civitak/ Kadoka Area 8 and Cappie West Philip 6. Casey Piper coached the Darks.

Winner senior Gabriel Kocer scored a game high 36 points for the Whites and was assisted by Jaedyn Finkbeiner/New Underwood 12 points, Cooper McLaughlin/ Wall 8, Nellie Leader Charge/White River 6, Kaylee Eisenbraum/ Kadoka Area 4, Katy O’Daniel/Kadoka Area 2, Deija DeMarrias/ White River 2 and Maya Franks/Red Cloud 2. Justice Morrison coached the Whites.

Jaedyn Finkbeiner/ New Underwood won the three point contest.

Players participating the the 13th annual Great Plains Senior girl’s All Star game included Raven Cournoyer and Haylee Quick Bear/Todd County, Kateri Weston/ Pine Ridge, Matilda Anderson/St. Francis, Maya Franks/Red Cloud, Nellie Leader Charge and Deija DeMarrias/ White River, Cooper McLaughlin/Wall, Katy O’Daniel, Kaylee Eisenbraum and Alyssa Civitak/Kadoka Area, Gabriel Kocer/Winner, Jaedyn Finkbeiner/ New Underwood, Elise Brooks/Miller, Cappie West/Philip and Georgi Mendoza/Timber Lake.
