Carlow, Prado, Sazue earn top All Nations honors




LOWER BRULE – Last week, coaches from the first year of the All Nations Football Conference got together to select players for conference honors; MVP honors went to Lower Brule senior running back Mykael Loera-Prado, Defensive Player of the Year went to Teron Sazue of Crow Creek and the Offensive Player of the Year went to Red Cloud senior quarterback Riyen Carlow.

The first year of the All Nations Football Conference wrapped up with the championship game on Friday, November 8 in the Dakota Dome In Vermillion with Crow Creek defeating Lower Brule 74-39. The semis had been the week before with Crow Creek knocking off Little Wound 54-0 and Lower Brule downing Red Cloud 48- 36.

First team offense honors went to Quarterback Riyen Carlow/ Red Cloud, Running Back-Mykael Loera-Prado/ Lower Brule, Running Back-Isaiah Sorace/ Lower Brule, Offensive Line-Mason Jandreau/ Lower Brule, Shilo Yellow Boy/Red Cloud, Hunter Big Eagle/Crow Creek, Tight End-Lane Mousseaux/CEB, Wide Receiver-Jayshaun Morrisette/ Red Cloud, Trevin McBride/Crow Creek, John Jandreau/Flandreau Indian with First Team All Purpose-Johnny German III/Tiospa Zina and Leon Brown Otter/CEB.

First team Defense awards went to Defensive Line-Luke Wells/ Crow Creek, Treyvon Head/Lower Brule, Marshall Daice/Crow Creek, Linebacker-Teron Sazue/Crow Creek, Tjay Head/Lower Brule, Tyus Norris/CEB, Defensive Back-Osceola Bluehorse/Tiospa Zina, Justice Big Eagle/Crow Creek, Alonzo Lamont/ Little Wound, Scott Obago/ Lower Brule.

Second Team Offense went to Quarterback Ashten Ganje/ CEB, Running Back-Isaac Hawk/Lower Brule, Quincy Means/ Red Cloud, Offensive Line-Reuben Tavai-Fiatoa/ CEB, Taelin Clifford/ Little Wound, Ethan Colombe/Lower Brule, Tight End-Wakiyan Catches Enemy/ Red Cloud, Wide Receiver Gavin Thigh/Lower Brule, Emilio Cespedes/ Little Wound, Desme Estes/Lower Brule with Second Team All Purpose Ronald Richards/ Red Cloud and Jayton Pease/Crow Creek.

Second Team Defensive honors went to Defensive Line-Malachi’s Appel/Marty, Dale Pourier/ Little Wound, Akisa Peters/Tiospa Zina, Linebacker-Beau Donavan/ Red Cloud, Jeshua Estes/Lower Brule, West Mason/Flandreau Indian, Defensive Back-Jate LaRoche/Lower Brule, Emery McGhee/Crow Creek, Favian Sanchez/ Flandreau Indian, Haedyn Haas/Red Cloud.

All Nations Co-coaches of the Year honors went to Zeke Prado of Lower Brule and Scott Klaudt of Crow Creek.

The first year of All Nations included 12 teams divided into two divisions. East Division included Tiospa Zina, Flandreau Indian, Marty, St. Francis, Lower Brule, Crow Creek and in the West Division Red Cloud, Little Wound, Oelrichs, Crazy Horse, Takini and CEB.

The conference is already looking forward to the second year, commitments have been made from Winnebago and Omaha Nation while McLaughlin and Standing Rock have expressed interest. Comments from across the conference on the first year were positive and ideas on how to tweak the organization and process were forthcoming.
