DECEMBER 16, 1968 – OCTOBER 8, 2019

Dennis T. Steele was born on December 16, 1968 in Long Beach, CA to Eldon L. Steele, Sr. and Vina White Face. Dennis passed onto Glory Land on October 8, 2019.

Thomas was known as “Noodles” to his friends. Dennis was sometimes shy, but an easy-going friendly person. He was a loving and peaceful person. He befriended many people, he was handsome, curly headed, and he used to chop off his curls. Dennis received his G.E.D. and attended Western Dakota Vocational Technical Institute. He earned his Diploma in Building Maintenance. He worked for O.S.T. Housing and through a tragic accident he resigned. Dennis moved to Rapid City and continued employment at various places and returned from unemployment through Ellsworth Air Base. He had exceptional talent to create beautiful wall paintings, dream catchers, earrings, and necklaces. Dennis was a believer in Jesus Christ and liked to attend church services. He read a lot, and the last book is a hand book to the Bible. Dennis enjoyed his life to the fullest, he never asked for much but he was ready to give to others. He was married to Jolene Little Hawk and helped raise Isaiah and Caitlin Rencountre as his own children. He would do anything for them. He just became a grandpa to SuAnna and Espie Sitting Bear and Margaret Two Bulls. He liked to address women as “Sister girl.” He certainly had his faults but tried to improve where he could.

Dennis is survived by Isaiah Steele and Caitlin Rencountre; SuAnna and Espie Sitting Bear, Margaret Two Bulls; parents, Eldon, Sr. and Vina Steele; brothers, Eldon Steele, Jr. and Darwin Steele; sisters, Eldeen Yellow Boy and Cindy Minkler; aunts and uncles, Clara & Vince Whipple; Myrna Young Bear & Family, Lillian Good Shield & Family, Mary Young Bear & Family, Sam Dave White Face & Family, Tim White Face & Family, and James White Face; Dennis is also survived by the family of the late Pastor Howard White Face-Greeley, Diggo, Dio, Betty, Losi, Kathy, and Ange.

Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Effie and Hobert White Face, Mamie (Palmer) and Frank Steele; cousins, Jim Steele, Duncan Steele, Susan Yellow Boy, David and Donna Scout, Michael and Tricia Steele, Michael White Face, and Vernon Lovejoy; aunts, Beulah Gallego, Amy Plenty Bulls, Trivean (White Face) Scout, and Rose White Face; uncles, Larry Steele, Frank Scout, Gilbert Good Shield, Brian White Face, Virgil Plenty Bulls, Lawrence Young Bear, Sr. and Howard White Face; cousins, Leslie and Janet Young Bear.

Pallbearers were Joey Yellow Hair, Manuel Scout, Diggo White Face, Eldon Steele, Jr., Adrian Yellow Boy, Sr., and Sam White Face, Jr.

A two-night wake service began on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Porcupine School Gymnasium. Funeral Services: were held on Monday, October 14, 2019 also at the Porcupine School Gym in Porcupine, SD. Officiating was Assistant Pastor Sam Dave White Face and Nathan Elk III. Graveside Services were held at the Lakota Mennonite Cemetery, Porcupine, SD. Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD.
