The Indian Summer Music Awards (ISMA) is an annual musical competition run by Indian Summer Festival. The ISMA show is devoted to the recognition of Native American artists who have made outstanding contributions toward indigenous people’s music in the previous year. ISMA judges are musicians, engineers, producers, musical educators, or other entertainment and media professionals. Each judge has provided information on their professional musical background and been screened and vetted to ensure professional competency in their respective fields. Unlike many other competitions, ISMA is not a ‘popularity contest’ but a technical, merit-based musical competition judged by industry professionals and peers. The general public does not vote in the ISMA competition.
