LITTLE WOUND DEFEATS CHEYENNEEAGLE BUTTE

KYLE – Down 17-10 after one, up 30-28 at the half then down 45- 44 after three, Little Wound finished with a strong fourth quarter to win a hard fought 61-57 victory over CEB Saturday night.

Junior Zoey Long Soldier and senior Macy Rouillard hit threes in the first and freshman Malina Shangreaux scored twice in the low post for Little Wound to come up short after one; Daci Lends His Horse connected on three baskets and Jay Ellen Red Fox came off the bench for two field goals to lead the Lady Braves to a 17-10 first quarter lead. Little Wound junior Talaiah Bear Killer ripped off 11 second quarter points, Rouillard and Long Soldier added baskets and Sophia Hatten helped with a three off the bench and the Lady Mustangs stayed close; Lynda Charger connected on three twos, Markee Shaving added two twos and Sunni Dupree tossed in two twos and a free throw to give CEB a slim 45-44 lead after three.

Junior Shawnee White scored all five of her points in the fourth, Long Soldier chipped in two threes and a deuce to help Little Wound pull out a four-point win.

The Lady Mustangs finished with a 43-33 rebounding edge, Long Soldier had a game high 15 boards, Shangreaux pulled down 12. Shangreaux led four Lady Mustangs in double figures with 15, Long Soldier and Bear Killer finished with 13 apiece and Rouillard had 10. Charger led CEB with 16 while Lends His Horse helped out with 13.

Little Wound is now 6-5 and hosts Red Cloud on Feb. 3 and travels to McLaughlin on Feb. 6. CEB is now 7-5 and travels to Stanley County on Saturday.
